Most downtown date nights end with the bill and a decision about where to go next. Here the second half is already booked: the Medusa Room sits directly behind the dining room — low pendants, leopard banquettes, a backlit marble bar and a Greek mural on the back wall.
Eat under the candlelight up front, then walk twenty feet for the cocktail list. No coats, no cab, no losing the mood between courses and a nightcap.

A harp that once belonged to Harpo Marx.
On Saturdays a harpist plays the early part of the evening — on the instrument Harpo Marx himself once owned. It is the kind of detail no other restaurant downtown can copy, and it happens while you are still on the first course. Later, the back room shifts to DJs.

Is Salvatore's a good spot for a romantic dinner?
It's built for one. The front dining room is candlelit and white-tablecloth, and the Medusa Room lounge sits directly behind it — low pendants, leopard banquettes and a backlit marble bar — so dinner and the drink afterwards happen in two different rooms without leaving the building.
Is there live music?
On Saturdays a harpist plays the early part of the evening — on a harp once owned by Harpo Marx. Later in the week the Medusa Room runs DJ-driven nights, Thursday through Saturday.
Can we have dinner and then move somewhere for drinks?
Yes, and you don't have to go anywhere. Walk past the host stand into the Medusa Room for the cocktail list — eleven signatures plus whatever the bartender has off-menu that night.
How far is it from the Gaslamp Quarter?
About 0.3 miles — a five-minute walk. We're at 750 Front St in the Marina District, between the Gaslamp and the waterfront.
Where do we park?
Valet and underground parking on Union Street, with validation. The garage entrance is on Union.
